Zi Lu carried rice

Zi Lu was a very filial son,
He was born in  a poor family.Normally  he offered his parents wild plants as main food. As he scared his parents would be malnutrition, he will travelled to places over hundred miles away to buy rice and carried home. On his way he need to overcame lots of obstacles, such as trembling in the coldness during winter or hiding the rice inside his clothes during rainy days. However he did not complaint even once.

Later, he became an officer. In many functions, he would be served with lots of delicious foods during his meals, however he had no appetite to eat. This was because his parents were passed away and he got no chance to serve them better foods. He still missed the period whereby he could eat simple food with his parents.

The most severe punishment for us is to be REGRET. So, have we shown our sincere love to our parents?
How to show our love to them, so that we won't have to be regretted ?

In "Lun Yu'. Zi You asked about what is the real filial piety. Confucious said' What is the difference in taking care of our dog/horse versus taking care of our parents?  I remembered I asked my 5 years old son this question. His answer is we can ride on a horse. Anyway, the difference is  lies on we should taking care of our parents with RESPECT. (including talk softly and nicely to them).

It is indeed a great blessing if our parents are still around, as we still have chance to show our love and care.
For those who parents were passed away, should consider do more charity work as an act to repay them.

Points for us to ponder :
Do we have the spirit of Zi Lu?
